Dupa cum foarte bine sugereaza si numele acestuia, Songs of Ill Hope and Desperation este un compendiu disonant si brutal, o oda a disperarii, urii si mizantropiei. Muzica este impinsa la limita suportabilitatii, melanjul de death metal, grindcore si sludge fiind in foarte multe momente extrem de apasator.
